GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Respect the game

Honor the Indigenous heritage of the sport. Dehoñtjihgwa'és (Lacrosse) is considered sacred; given by the Creator, to be played for the creator.

TEACHING IS LEARNING

Approach every situation humble and open to learn.

True wisdom is knowing there is always more to learn and that sometimes the most valuable lessons come from the most unexpected places.

TEamwork first

There is no room for selfishness. Good lacrosse is a true team sport.

Teamwork, trust, and sportsmanship are equally as critical as physical skills.

Good Passes = Great Goals

GROW THE GAME

Lacrosse is for everyone.

We are passionate about expanding access to lacrosse and removing barriers to entry so that everyone can enjoy and benefit from this incredible sport.

teach FOR THE FUTURE

A coach's role is to prepare young athletes for their sporting future, not just the next competition.

It's our job to teach lacrosse skills and sportsmanship that will last a lifetime. That's a lot bigger than any one game.

PRIORITIZE THE PLAYERS

Our job is to help our players be the best versions of themselves on and off the field.

The happiness, growth, and self-confidence of the players is more important than wins and losses.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to grow the game of lacrosse and positively impact the lacrosse community by expanding access, removing barriers to entry, promoting sportsmanship, and providing individualized player skills development with a strong team-oriented mindset.

We don’t measure success in wins vs losses, we measure it in the growth and happiness of our players both on and off the field. We succeed when our players grow as athletes and as people, and when we contribute to the growth of the game.

ABOUT US

“It’s not the will to win that matters — everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.” – Paul “Bear” Bryant

Titan Lacrosse is a learning-centered lacrosse organization locally owned and operated in Indianapolis, Indiana, built on the philosophy that the key to success is personalized skill instruction and individualized player development on and off the field.

We offer private and small group instruction to both male and female players of all ages. We also offer an off-season program, Team Titan (currently open to boys ages 8-16), which gives players invaluable team practice and competition experience.

Titan is different because we teach lacrosse fundamentals at all levels, to all ages, as well as offering high-level training. Every player gets the same level of commitment and instruction, regardless of their skill level. As long as the player is ready to work, our coaches are ready to help them achieve and grow.

Titan is for both experienced players looking to elevate their game with top-tier, personalized instruction, AND kids who are new to the sport and ready to learn from experienced coaches who take the time to teach and nurture each player as an individual.

One of the greatest gifts of lacrosse is true teamwork. Learning to work as part of a team is equally as critical as learning to shoot or dodge. Everything we do, from private lessons and clinics to team practices and gameplay, is centered around teaching team ball through individualized player skills development, sportsmanship, strategy, positional development, a strong team-oriented mindset, and Lacrosse IQ.

COACH MOORHEAD

Founder & Owner of Titan Lacrosse

Patrick Moorhead picked up a stick sometime in the late nineties, fell in love, and never looked back. He has been playing lacrosse for over 25 years and coaching since 2008.

He was fortunate to play East Coast ball in high school at Perkiomen Preparatory School in Pennsylvania and then at Lynchburg College in Virginia.

Coach Moorhead has worked extensively with players at all levels of the game, from first graders to Division One NCAA athletes. His passion for the game of lacrosse and the growth of his players is infectious, unparalleled, and evident in everything he does.

"As a coach, it is my responsibility to foster the development of my players both mentally and physically. I look at lacrosse not just as a sport, but as an opportunity to teach responsibility, teamwork, and ingenuity; to demonstrate the connection between decision and outcome. It teaches that hard work, sacrifice, and determination can, and will, pay off."

OUR COACHES

Dedication. Expertise. Passion.

Our coaches thrive on TEACHING the game by meeting each player where they're at.

COACH METZLER

Youth Coach

Hello, parents and players!

My name is Austin Metzler. I played middle and high school lacrosse for Pike Township in the early 2000s. I made varsity my freshman year as a defensive midfielder, got bumped up to a full-time midfielder, and ended my high school career playing attack. I finished top 15 in the state for total points in 07-08 and was invited to play for the Indy Elite All Stars, where I was fortunate to play in multiple tournaments on the East Coast. I loved every minute of my playing days.

Fast forward a decade or so; I showed up to my son's first practice a few years ago with my lacrosse stick and was quickly approached by the coaching staff and asked to “help out when I can." I  immediately fell in love with coaching, and "helping out when I can" quickly became coaching full-time, year-round for Northside Youth Lacrosse and Titan Lacrosse.

I specialize in developing skills for players at the youth level. From sound stick skills, to shooting, ground balls, defensive positioning and teaching players how to understand the flow of the game.

"My coaching style is enthusiastic, supportive, and LOUD. I also provide a good dose of ‘tough love’ when called for. I love watching kids grow as lacrosse players, teammates, and young people.  I look forward to working with you and your kids, hopefully for many years. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you for trusting me to help your child with lacrosse and GO TITAN! "

COACH BATES

HIGH SCHOOL COACH

Phil Bates has been playing lacrosse for 20+ years and coaching for nearly 10 years.

He played goalie for Brebeuf Jesuit High School and then went on to play four years at Ball State University.

Phil is the Head Coach of the North Central Boys ' Lacrosse team, coaches with Titan Lacrosse in the off-season, and serves as Secretary for the IHSLA.

Phil's passion for the growth of lacrosse in Indiana is matched only by his commitment to his players' development on and off the field.

I'd rather play lacrosse six days a week
and football on the seventh.
